Koldkiss Machine User's Manual
KOLDKISS MACHINE OWNER’S MANUAL
Read entire manual before operating the machine.
Use only grounded electrical outlet.
Use caution when touching or handling machine blades.
Use only Koldkiss replacement parts.
Unplug machine before attempting service or repairs.
Never put your finger into the discharge spout, it is dangerous and may result in severe personal injury, including loss of limb or disfigurement.
Never make alterations to the electrical components or push button.
Never remove grounding prong from power cord.
Never allow children to operate machine without direct adult supervision.
UNPACKING AND ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
Carefully remove machine from packing carton and place upside down. Remove base plate and 4 stainless steel screws. Securely and completely attach base to machine and then turn the unit upright.
Place the machine on counter, shelf or table strong enough to support the weight of the loaded machine. It weighs over 70 pounds when filled with ice cubes.
Position the edge of the base plate to overhang the edge of the support surface about one inch and place a 5 gallon pail under it. As the ice cubes in the machine melt, the water will drain through the hole in the base plate into the pail.
Plug the power cord into a 110 – 120 volt, 60 cycle and properly grounded electrical circuit. The circuit must have a 15-amp breaker and nothing else may be used on it. For owners of the Koldkiss Super Shaver, a 30 amp dedicated breaker must be used, also with no other device operating on the same circuit.
If an AC generator is to be used to power the machine only, it must be at least 3,300 watts and properly grounded, as well.
If an extension cord is required, use the following: 14 gauge for 25 feet or less, or 12 gauge for up to 50 feet. Do not use an extension cord longer than 50 feet. Any deviation from these requirements will result in burning out the motor and/or fire hazard which could lead to property damage or personal injury.
12-VOLT ELECTRICAL CONNECTION:
Attach the positive electrical lead wire, 15 feet long, to the positive terminal of the 12-volt battery. Attach the ground (negative) wire, the shorter wire supplied, to a clean, solid ground (for example, the frame of the vehicle). Make sure that all connections are to clean surfaces and securely attached to prevent sparking or damaging the machine motor. The battery must be fully charged and care should be taken not to let it run too low. An inadequately charged battery could damage or burn out the motor in the machine. The recommended method of connection for the 12-volt machine is to a system that is continually charging, such as a car or truck. If running on a 12-volt battery by itself a proper charge must be maintained. The battery must be recharged after approximately 8 hours, depending on usage. Any damage to the unit by use of a 12-volt battery is solely at the risk of customer.
Do not use a DC generator to operate the machine under any condition.
Special Caution: Be extra careful with the 12-volt machine and never put fingers into the discharge spout or near moving parts because power is supplied to the motor unless the lead wire is disconnected from the battery!
NEVER REACH FINGERS INTO THE DISCHARGE SPOUT WHETHER THE MACHINE IS PLUGGED IN OR NOT! SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY AND LOSS OF LIMB COULD OCCUR.
Just because the motor is off does not mean that the paddle plate has stopped turning. The paddle plate can spin at least 15 seconds after the push button has been released.
START UP CHECK:
With the ice hopper empty, place lid on the ice hopper and press the push button. As the motor runs, listen for any rubbing noise or irregular sound during operation. Release the push button and the motor and machine will stop running. If an irregular or rubbing sound is heard return the unit to KOLDKISS to allow an inspection for shipping damage.
The ice cubes should be slightly on the melt before loading them into the machine. Therefore, if the cubes come right out of a freezer, let them sit outside for a few minutes. This will prevent the machine from freezing up. Conversely, if the ice cubes have any accumulated water, pour off all water before loading ice into the hopper. This will keep the machine from flooding which could cause damage to the electrical components. Make sure that any bag ties, staples, impurities, etc., are removed before pouring the ice cubes into the ice hopper. These items will not only contaminate your product, but will also damage the internal mechanism of the ice shaver and void the warranty.
Remove the lid from the ice hopper. Slowly pour the ice cubes into the ice hopper until nearly flush with the top of the hopper. Replace the lid.
Hold a cup under the discharge spout in one hand while pushing the push button. Hold the container about 3 inches below the discharge spout, fill to the desired level and release push button. Do not hold the container too close to the discharge spout. The discharge spout will clog if the cup is held too closely to the spout. Also, this prevents the operator from seeing how much shaved ice is in the container. Reminder: Never put your fingers into the discharge spout if clogged with shaved ice. Unplug the machine and then use a utensil such as the handle of a spoon if necessary. The rate at which the shaved ice flows is determined by the amount of ice cubes in the hopper. A full hopper will give the fastest flow rate and also result in slightly finer shaved ice.
Prevent electrical shock, hazard and damage to the machine by following these directions:
Disconnect the power source and empty the ice hopper.
Do Not: immerse or soak the machine in water!
Do Not: spray the machine with a hose.
Do Not: Pour water into the inside of the ice hopper.
Wipe the cast aluminum lid, interior of the ice hopper and the outside of the machine with a damp, clean, soft cloth using a food grade cleaner or dishwashing soap. Remove any residual cleaner by wiping with a clean cloth that has been dampened with clean, fresh water.
The Koldkiss Snow Shaver is designed and built to extremely robust standards. It will last for years of productive use when all operating instructions are followed.
The only maintenance required is periodic cleaning inside and out as described above.
UNPLUG MACHINE BEFORE CLEANING.

Carefully remove everything from the box.
You will find the following items:
1 - Koldkiss Ice Shaver
1 - Lid
1 - Base Plate
1 – Plastic Bag that contains:
2 – Front Feet (Small); 2 – Rear Feet (Large); 4 – Small Screws (for the Feet); 4 – Large Screws
(for the Base Plate)
Turn the Machine upside down so that you are looking down on the motor. Place the Base Plate on top covering the motor. Align it so that the smooth flat side is facing you and the straight side is oriented over the Spout. Use the 4 - Large Screws and attach the Base Plate.
While the Machine is still upside down attach the four Feet. The 2 - small Front Feet get attached along the straight edge of the Base Plate and the 2 – larger Rear Feet get attached along the curved edge of the Base Plate. Both sets of Feet utilize the 4 – small Screws.
Optional: A Barbed Connector can be screwed into the underside of the Base Plate between the Front Feet. You may attach plastic tubing to the connector to let the melted ice drain into a pail or just place a pail under the hole.
